Casey perform heart-rending session of “The Funeral”

The melodic hardcore five-piece from South Wales, Casey, may have recently announced that they are throwing in the towel for the band later this year, but that hasn’t stopped them from putting their all into every performance until then. Their new live session of their song “The Funeral” uses the perfect formula for a memorable, emotionally compelling performance that burns with raw passion.

Starting with warm, ambient guitars and mellow vocals, the song draws you in slowly, but then explodes into dissonant riffs, booming drums and mettlesome screams. The lead guitar soon comes in with piercing, raucous triplets that echo throughout the abrasive yet alluring soundscape. Each instrument blends together to create a thundering emanation, arousing storm-like effects. The storm then calms back down, flowing into a subdued tenderness of lush instrumentals while the lyric “Promise me you’ll stay awhile” softly repeats until the song ends.
