Musicians in Lockdown: Subliminal Landmines Interview

Subliminal Landmines

Louisiana trio Subliminal Landmines bring back the raw and snarky charm of early Green Day with their simplistic yet headstrong punk tunes. Their power chord-fueled chants and melodies are reminiscent of the ’90s and ’00s while staying relevant to the current times and relatable to today’s youth.

Subliminal Landmines sat down with The Outer Void to discuss their activity in lockdown and future plans:

What have you been up to during the pandemic?

During the pandemic we couldn’t play any shows, so we decided to write and record a new album. We also recorded a few videos to go along with it. Our main focus right now is to grow our online fanbase as much as we can until we can get back out there playing regularly.

Has the lockdown impacted your songwriting this year in any way?

If anything it has helped us to write more music. It gave us time to thoroughly write each of the songs and there was no pressure to get them written quick. We went at our own pace and set our own deadlines.

What’s your favorite show you’ve ever played?

The show that sticks out the most to us would have to be when we played Bisbanos Pizza Parlor basement a couple years ago. It’s a small bar so with like 20-25 people the place is full and everyone’s up close and personal and the energy was amazing. We also sold the most merch we ever sold at that show, so that was a cool milestone for us.

If you could tour with any band/artist, who would it be?

Green Day would be amazing to tour with, especially since a lot of our music is influenced from them.

What 2020 album would you recommend to someone who believes there’s no good new music?

Obviously we would recommend listening to our new album Gibberish, but if they still believe there is no good music we would suggest them to listen to I Want The World by Hands Off Gretal.

What are your plans for 2021?

In 2021 we plan to get together regularly and get our new songs ready for live shows. Possibly some new music and new merch to come this year along with maybe a live stream show. Once we get the OK to start booking shows again then we will definitely be touring, but other than that it should be somewhat similar to 2020 but with new milestones to accomplish!
